Dropping/Withdrawing from Classes

Dropping or withdrawing from classes can significantly impact your financial aid, as well as your eligibility for aid in the future. If you need to drop a class or withdraw from the university, you should consult with your advisor and also discuss the changes with the Financial Aid Office before doing so. Additional information can be found on our website, as well as in the Undergraduate Catalog.

The Net Price Calculator estimates the total cost of your academic school year based on enrollment hours, tuition and required fees, books, supplies, and meal plans. Please note, this is not an exact amount – it is only an estimate. The cost on your official Bursar bill may differ.

Scholarships

We know college is expensive, which is why we encourage students to apply for scholarships to help ease the financial burden. There are a variety of scholarships available, each with different eligibility requirements, scholarship amounts, and times of the year that they are available. Information on current scholarships, how to apply, and additional tips are available on our website.

SIU Refund Policy

There are situations in which students are eligible for a refund. The SIU Refund policy outlines these situations, as well as all other relevant information.

Student Loans

Student Loans are another form of financial assistance. Loans are awarded after your eligibility for grants, scholarships and Federal Work-Study have been considered and applied first. Your financial aid package may include student options – it is your choice to accept the student loan or forgo the offer. Information on loan repayment, maximum loan limits, federal vs. private loans, and more can be found on the Financial Aid Office website.
