Health and Wellness Resources on Campus
SIU has a full-service Health Center right here on campus for medical, optical, dental, mental health, medical testing, rehabilitation, and nutrition services. The SIU Health Center also has an optical retail center and a pharmacy. To see all SIU health and wellness services scroll down this page. Alcohol and Other Drugs Resources
The SIUC campus has many resources available to students who may be concerned about their own alcohol or drug intake or are concerned about a friend's intake. The Student Health Center provides information, counseling, crisis services, and medical care.
The Student Health Center offers a variety of healthcare services. You can schedule, manage, and cancel your appointments 24/7. You can also print a parking pass for your appointment.

SIU students who have experienced gender-based violence (i.e., sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, or stalking) can meet with a confidential advisor. The advisor's job is to help you find support, resources, and information that you need to safely continue your studies.
Student Health Services offers a variety of counseling sessions: one-on-one, group, couples, alcohol and drug counseling and more. Our staff works to help students resolve problems that interfere with personal, social, and academic functioning while also emphasizing prevention, development, adjustment, and wellness.
Student life can be stressful, and many students are dealing with multiple problems. We want to make sure help is available to you 24 hours a day. We have a Counselor on Duty who takes calls and meets with students who are in crisis. Other Crisis resources are also available on our website.
Student Health Services offers Medical Nutrition Therapy through our Registered Dietitian (RD). You will receive an individualized plan to suit your dietary needs. Information on SNAP, local food pantries, and more can also be found on our website.
Emergency contraception is safe and effective and is available at the SIU Student Health Center's Pharmacy. Learn about the contraception that is right for you, where to purchase it, and more. You may also schedule an appointment to speak with a health care provider. We are happy to answer any questions in a safe and supportive environment.
The Healthy Campus Coalition (HCC) serves as an advisory board for programs and services impacting the health of our students. We meet semesterly to bring together ideas and resources for a healthier SIU. Learn how you can get involved!
The Student Health Insurance Plan provides health insurance coverage for expenses such as pharmaceuticals, immunizations, and off-campus services such as emergency room, hospitalizations, surgery, ambulance and specialty care. Learn more about your health coverage through SIU, enroll in an insurance plan, or request a refund if you have comparable insurance from another provider.
Informational workshops on general issues, sexual health, stress/sleep/time management, suicide prevention and more. We will give presentations based on requests from professors and resident hall staff. All topics can be modified to meet the needs of the requestor.

International Travel Vaccinations
Student Health Services is the designated travel immunization center for our area. If you are traveling and in need of vaccinations, schedule an appointment!
Resources related to people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer, as well as those who prefer no labels at all. Make an appointment to speak with someone in person about any sexual topic, free of shame or judgement.

The Student Health Center offers nutritional information for students, as well as healthy lifestyle tips, cooking and recipe ideas, and information about eating disorders.
The psychiatry clinic is staffed with a psychiatrist, a physician's assistant, and two psychiatric nurses who work closely with our psychologists and mental health counselors. Services include psychiatric evaluation and medication management.
Nurse educators and counselors are available to help you understand your options when you experience a pregnancy, help you process your feelings, and cope with stress. Schedule an appointment and view other recourses.
Preventive medicine services focus primarily on preventive health care including required and recommended vaccines, flu shots, allergy shots, TB screening, prescription injection medications, and traveler's health.

STI’s are common among sexually active college students. While not all of them are curable, all of them are treatable. The sooner treatment begins for STI’s, the less severe long-term health effects will be. If you need more information or would like to talk to someone in a safe and judgement-free environment, schedule an appointment.
Trying to kick your smoking habit? Educators are available for one-on-one appointments to provide resources and help you quit.
The Student Health Center maintains the “Dawg Lounge,” which is a semi-private space for students to relax and de-stress. The lounge offers a massage chair, guided imagery, meditation and biofeedback. You can also find a relaxing podcast to listen to on our website.
Wellness and Health Promotion Services is home to SIUC's Garrett Lee Smith Campus Suicide Prevention Grant. We believe it takes a village to create a zero suicide culture on college campuses. We are “Salukis on Your Side,” dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health services and resources to SIU students. Our goal is to help you find the support, resources, and information you need by treating suicides of students on campus as a “never event.”
