Center for Service-Learning and Volunteerism
Getting involved through community service and service-learning are great ways to get the most out of your Saluki experience. Whether you are a first-year student or a seasoned graduate student the Center for Service-Learning has a service opportunity for you!
The 710 Bookstore Dawg Pound is a student-based organization that strives to spread Saluki Pride by increasing student awareness and attendance for all Saluki athletic programs.
Students in fraternities or sororities hold a variety of leadership roles on campus, as well as more than 50 percent of the recorded community service hours.
Graduate Professional Student Council
Graduate Professional Student Council (GPSC) exists to provide the opportunity for collective participation by graduate and professional students in promoting educational/professional advancement and the social welfare of the community.
There are opportunities for students to participate in more than 300 registered student organizations. SIU has everything from student government, public interest groups, fraternities and sororities, publication and media groups, scholastic and professional honorary societies, departmental clubs, special interest groups, religious organizations, and sports and recreation clubs. If you have an interest, we have a student organization for you!
Leading your RSO to success can be challenging. To help, we have provided information on solicitation, funding, and event resources to keep your organization running smoothly.

Saluki Family Weekend is an opportunity for families to spend time with their student, visit campus and take part in the Saluki experience. Family weekend occurs during the fall semester. Learn more and plan for the next Saluki Family Weekend!

The Student Programming Council (SPC) is an RSO that plans and implements a wide range of exciting events such as concerts, lectures, films, art exhibits, Homecoming, Saluki Family Weekend, trips, SPC-TV, festivals and special events. Undergraduate Student Government
Undergraduate Student Government (USG) represents the undergraduate student body at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in all matters pertaining to student welfare, student activities, and student participation in University planning and administration.
WIDB is a completely student-run radio station that provides hands-on student experience, cutting edge music, and student-oriented news and sports programming. If you are interested in becoming involved with WIDB, contact the organization today!
The Women's Civic Institute is a program designed by the Center for Service-Learning and Volunteerism. The program aims to help students become aware of the many dimensions of civic engagement and prepare them for leadership in public service. It is open to undergraduate and graduate students.
